Scope:

This article studies and compares the computer science undergraduate curriculums in China and the United States. In particular, we first provide a high-level overview of the computer science undergraduate education in both countries. Next, we select several institutions in each country as representatives and comparatively analyze the similarities and differences of their curriculum designs in depth. The selected universities include engineering-oriented universities and liberal-and-arts-orient universities in China, and public universities, private universities and liberal and arts colleges in the US. Through this study, our goal is to provide guidelines for computer science students and educators to better prepare students for their next steps after graduation (e.g., working in industries and pursuing graduate degrees domestically or internationally), under the trend of globalization.
